Fieldwork

The Indian Adult Education Association (IAEA) has adopted two nearby communities — Anna Nagar and Sanjay Colony — to implement its outreach and development activities. IAEA organises a range of community-oriented initiatives for residents: periodic health camps, awareness campaigns, training and capacity-building sessions, and other social‐welfare activities. IAEA combines educational outreach with social mobilisation: besides conducting awareness drives on adult literacy, health, civic rights, and social empowerment, the Association also helps build community ownership by involving local members in planning and delivery of these activities. This hands-on engagement helps bridge gaps between formal adult education efforts and ground-level needs, ensuring that the adopted communities receive not only knowledge but also tangible support and social inclusion.

IAEA has collaborated with Pocket Full of Sunshine, an organisation dedicated to child rights and community empowerment, to explore the establishment of an Adolescent Care and Learning Support Centre in Madanpur Khadar. Through such interactive collaborations and sessions with children and community stakeholders, the partnership aims to identify needs and design programmes focused on education, counselling, and creative development. This collaboration reflects lAEA's commitment to supporting vulnerable adolescents through inclusive, community-based initiatives.
