Literacy Awards

 

1. Nehru Literacy Award

IAEA instituted Nehru Literacy Award in 1968 to commemorate the distinguished services of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru to the cause of reason of enlightenment and is given annually to an individual or an institution for outstanding contribution for the promotion of adult education in the country.

 

2. Tagore Literacy Award

IAEA instituted the Tagore Literacy Award in 1987 to commemorate the 125th Birth anniversary of the great poet Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore and is given annually to individuals/institutions for their outstanding contribution towards promotion and development.


3. Lifetime achievement award

It will be given to the individual on the basis of his/her Academic contribution/Field Contribution and or theory development in the field of Adult Education, Continuing Education and Lifelong Learning.

 

Dr. Zakir Husain Memorial Lecture

IAEA instituted annual lecture series to commemorate the memory of Dr. Zakir Husain, former President of India and one of the founding fathers of IAEA and recall his contributions to adult education movement in India in general and to the institutional development of IAEA in particular during the formative stage. Several distinguished scholars and eminent persons from different fields delivered the lectures on different topics.
