To promote gender sensitization, the Indian Adult Education Association (IAEA) has
constituted an Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) under the Gender Sensitization Committee.
This committee shall work in consultation with Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) and National
Commission for Women (NCW).
Objectives of the ICC
To address issues and concerns related to sexual harassment at the workplace.
To sensitize employees, members and workers of the IAEA on matters concerning sexual
harassment and gender sensitivity.
Composition of the ICC
Chairperson: Mrs. Nishat Farooq, Former Director, State Resource
Centre, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi.
Co-chairperson: Dr. Chayanika Uniyal, Associate Professor, Department
of History, Shyama Prasad Mukherji College, University of Delhi, Delhi.
Member: Dr. Geeta Mishra, Associate Professor, DCEE, Faculty of Social
Science, University of Delhi, Delhi.
Member: Dr. Gyanendra Kumar, President, Voluntary Health Association,
Delhi (NGO Representative).
Member: Dr. Joycia Thorat, Consultant for Good Governance & Standards
of Excellence, New Delhi.
Developing and recommending gender-related policies.
Evaluating the impact of gender-related initiatives.
Providing training and awareness programmes on gender equality and diversity.
Responding to complaints and grievances related to gender discrimination or harassment
of employees.
Cooperating with other relevant bodies or groups in related matters.
Exploring opportunities to apply for research grants from DCW, NCW and UN Women under
thematic areas like feminist movements and leadership, to support sensitization,
advocacy and research activities.
On receipt of any grievance, the committee shall conduct a detailed enquiry within seven
days of the incident and collect evidence through enquiries and interviews of potential
witnesses.
