Focus and Scope
The Indian Journal of Adult Education is a
scholarly journal
dedicated to the advancement of knowledge in the field of adult education and lifelong
learning. It
publishes original research articles, theoretical analyses, review papers, policy
discussions, and
book reviews that address diverse dimensions of adult education and allied areas. The
journal
particularly focuses on themes such as adult literacy, continuing education, extension
education,
community development, vocational and skill-based learning, gender and education, and issues
of
equity and social inclusion. Contributions drawing from interdisciplinary perspectives
within the
social sciences and humanities are also encouraged.
The journal covers research related to formal, non-formal, and informal learning processes,
including institutional frameworks, community-based education, and lifelong learning
practices. It
promotes diversity in theoretical approaches, research methodologies, and scholarly
traditions, and
seeks to facilitate dialogue among academicians, practitioners, and policymakers engaged in
adult
education at national and international levels.
Peer Review Process
All submissions undergo an initial screening by the Editor, followed by a
double-blind
peer-review process
involving at least two expert reviewers. The reviewers assess the suitability, originality,
and academic quality of the manuscript and provide detailed feedback. Authors are required
to revise
their manuscripts in accordance with the reviewers’ comments. The final decision regarding
publication rests with the Editor.
Publication Frequency
The journal is published bi-annually, bringing out two issues each year.
Submission Policy
The Indian Journal of Adult Education accepts high-quality research papers, review articles,
and
case studies throughout the year. Submissions must be original and not
under
consideration
elsewhere.
Open Access Policy
The journal seeks to promote the dissemination of knowledge in adult education and
encourages wider
academic engagement. Access policies may vary by issue and platform of publication.
Article Processing Charges
The journal does not charge any
article
processing fees or
submission fees. Publication in the
journal is free of cost for authors.

The Indian Journal of Adult Education is

History
The journal is published by the Indian
Adult
Education Association (IAEA), established in 1939, and
has played a significant role in disseminating research and knowledge related to adult
education and
literacy in India over the decades.
